Journey

How I have come to Love the Float

My life changed in January of 2017 when I floated for the first time. I have suffered chronic back pain since adolescence. I recently marked 20 years since my second reconstructive surgery that resulted in a five level lower spine fusion. I avoid pain medication and rely on high pain tolerance to maintain an active family and work life, but as I’ve aged physical limitations are an increasing challenge.

In the freedom from gravity of my first float I experienced a few pain free moments for the first time in nearly four decades. In the time since I have become a frequent floater, was invited to share my story at the 2018 Float Conference, and floated for 31 consecutive days for Float A Day May. Love the Float is a passion project; a way for me to help spread the love for this amazing but still little known resource. I hope that sharing my experiences, research, connections, and knowledge will help others unlock the life enhancing potential of floating.
